Detroit Ignition 7-15 Chicago Storm

PLYMOUTH, MI--Ian Bennett had a hat trick and new signing Dan Antoniuk registered three assists on his debut (after passing a physical two hours before kickoff) as the Storm defeated top of the table Detroit, 15-7, at Compuware Arena.
Detroit scored the first four points in the first quarter on goals by Miodrag Djerisilo and Zack Wilkes. It would be all Storm after that.
Ian Bennett got the first of his goals after receiving a pass from Frederic Moojen which put him in the open with 1:15 left in the first half. Moojen would assist on Chris Cerroni’s first goal 28 seconds into the second half to level matters. Twenty-eight seconds later, the Storm were ahead after Ignition keeper Danny Waltman mishandled a hard Bennett shot and the ball would bounce into the goal to make it 6-4.
Bennett turned provided eight minutes into the third quarter after his initial shot was saved by Waltman, but Alen Osmanovic scored on a the rebound to make it 8-4. Antoniuk would set up Cerroni’s second goal at the 10:45 mark of the third to complete an eight-point quarter for the Storm.
Andy Rosenband made it 12 unanswered points with a goal of his own with less than five minutes to go in the game. Detroit finally got back on the board with 66 seconds left as Ryan Mack scored a three-point goal. But the Storm would answer that three-pointer with one of their own with twelve seconds left as Bennett completed his hat trick.
The Storm (4-8) now travel to Milwaukee for a match on Sunday against the Wave. Kickoff is set for 2pm.
